#LittleJoysOfLife - Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh

Let me give you a glimpse into a conversation I was having with my husband - the one person who has to bear with my mood swings and love and hate and all of it!

I was basically not in best of my moods and was feeling really low.

What do you think would have happened that day?

Knowing how busy my husband can genuinely get, I responded to him with a "It's okay. I know". I got busy with Ayaan, trying to find my happiness in his smiles when he talks to his nanny. Oh you should see them talking, Boy! what a charmer and heartbreaker he is my god! But that's for some other time. I promise I'll have a note on it.

Coming back to that day, my husband in an unlikely series of events did come up with a plan for me - Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh! Well before you spin your head guessing what it is, it's a new restaurant offering a fusion of Mexican and Indian flavours. It has the famous Michelin star chef Gaggan's blessings. But what's most interesting to me is the story around the name and how it is evident in their decor and menu.

Apparently it's a story of how Mr. Singh from Punjab, India bump into Ms. Maria from Mexico at the Airport cafeteria. As they hit each other, food from their trays flies into the others and gets a fusion taste. And then in dramatic set of events, flights get delayed, they stay overnight at the airport and fall in love.  Sounds cheesy? Oh God! You should read their menu, the illustrations will add more cheese to your imagination. But nonetheless, their food was mouth watering! So much was I deep into flavours of chicken tikka masala and the dal vs beans stew, that I would have almost missed their different bulb lights and the traditional embroidered bright cushions! The colourful walls and doors did speak out life.

After the papdi chat and main course, what melted in my mouth was this fig ice cream (the menu item was named Fig Kulfi Snow). First time had I eaten an ice cream made from Fig and was amazed by it.

We departed soon and reached our home sweet home. On the way, I got to know how my husband had some presentations to review and some work to finish. I had a smile on my face knowing that there is someone who still tries to come up with plans to lift up my spirits. After all, what is more joyous than finding your own cheerleader! :)
