Radical positivity - it's hard. Period.
Radical positivity can be tiring. Period.
I define radical positivity as a state of being in which you are choosing the positive perspective on even a seemingly bad thing always. If there's no positive perspective around it, you either stop thinking or create a silver lining perspective all by yourself.
Why is radical positivity hard? There are multiple reasons for this.
Firstly, all said and done, it is hard to really think positive when you are going through something adverse. If thinking positive is exerting x amount of effort in normal circumstances, radical positive thinking in times of chaos is at least x square! Tricking your mind isn’t easy. It takes creativity, patience and tremendous energy. It’s almost like building a parallel world.
Secondly, when you ace at this for yourself, it can be tough and really a challenge when people around you aren’t positive. For me, there were some people in fact in familia who constantly would check in to see if my chemo side effects have reached a bad state yet and be surprised if it wasn’t as bad as they had thought.
Thirdly, Like it or not, we are humans and have flaws. Once you start positioning yourself as this ultra positive person, people start taking you as that positive person. That starts becoming status quo. So, even if you are low, people would not realise that you need attention. This creates a gap in your emotional journey and takes you down.
